Heat shield for JD M, MT & 40 Tractors

This our newest addition.  Heat shield for John Deere M, MT & John Deere 40 Tractors. Keeps most of the exhaust manifold heat away from your temperature gauge probe, cylinder head and tappet cover area.

Did you know your exhaust manifold on these tractors gets over 500 degrees. Your muffler gets over 550 degrees. That heat distorts the temperature probe reading on these tractors giving you a false temperature reading.  The early gauges were a number gauge and later John Deere went to a colored gauge, cold, normal, hot.  When the early John Deere M tractors came out the temperature probe was located in the water manifold on top of the cylinder head. Later, they changed it to be in the top rear left hand side of the cylinder head leaving only about a 2 1/2" gap between the exhaust manifold and the temperature probe. This shield helps redirect the flow of hot air outside the tractor rather than under the hood.
